Let's talk about your OCD relationship. You see that if you have OCD or the one that you love has it, it can be very difficult to act like any normal couple. You first need to realize that if you are the one that has OCD then it's important to not try to get your partner to do rituals for you. My girlfriend was really annoyed and bothered and saddened when I tried to get her to do rituals for me. You see, rituals are something that you feel like you have to do to prevent something bad from happening. If you are the person who does not have OCD in this OCD relationship, then you need to make sure not to enable the person you are with. Do not give into their rituals. Tell them that in order to help them the best, you will not be able to accomodate them when they ask you to do rituals. Make sure that you are there for them emotionally though and tell them that you care.

Sometimes in your OCD relationship, the sufferer of OCD and the person who does not have it will hold the relationship hostage. If the person who has OCD in the OCD relationship says that they'll leave you if you don't do their rituals, let them do so. Do not let them hold the relationship over your head to make you do things. Trust me, there are other fish in the sea. Now more than ever, you need to think about whether you want to be trapped by someone that has OCD and who exploits your love for them to make them do things? Walk away. At the same time, if the person who does not have OCD in your OCD relationship tries to threaten to leave you if you keep having OCD, you should let this be a motivation to help you get rid of it. At the same time, make sure that you don't let them control you and hold the relationship hostage. Don't give into this mess either. Tell them that if they love you, that they will at least fight for you, but remember, they cannot and should not do rituals for you, so don't ask them too. And make sure to not talk about it with them more than once a week!

In any OCD relationship, the couple should work together as a team. If you are the one who does not have OCD in this OCD relationship, then make sure that you don't just sit there and say, "well, that's their problem," and then just wait for them to get better. If you want to be with this person, then you must be an active participant in helping them in a controlled way. For example, you can say, ok honey, every friday, we'll talk about your OCD for an hour or so max. If you are the one in the OCD relationship who has OCD, you should not try to get your significant other to engage in conversation about your OCD during any other time than the agreed upon time. This will make your partner lose trust in you. They are not talking to you about it all the time because the more you talk about it, the worse it becomes. Plus, they are not going to understand anyway. this is a private matter and must be dealt with by a professional who knows what they are doing!

When you think about the people who are in an OCD relationship, it really is a unique thing. It's hard especially when the person who has it is stubborn and does not want any help. It puts extra strain on the relationship. Be careful OCD sufferer, the person you are with may leave you if you don't stop acting like a child and stop being stubborn! Make sure that you ask yourself this question, "What is more important to me, my OCD or my relationship?" If the person is still stubborn and chooses their OCD, let them choose that and find someone who will choose you!
